Well the transition of eight years of PPD malfeasance to the first Republican governor in PR since Luis Ferre is starting to take place. Man, what will they find. For eight years these pirates have had a field day. No checks, no balances. Baby it was a party and one hell of a party. Puerto Rico became bankrupt both morally and economically during these last eight years. It will take a long time to get over the hangover.
The issue here is not who was selected to be part of the transition team. We trust Fortuno and Pierluisi will have an excellent team. The issue is what to do once you open Pandora's box.
We all know the last transition was a joke. Everything got brushed under the rug. Anibal is charged with 24 counts of corruption. Others in his administration are under the scope of the Feds. We all know documents will be missing, maybe just ... misplaced. The whole communidades especiales fiasco and Cantero Frau under Sila. The contracts which have been handed out. The Fortuno team will face hundreds of potential cases of questionable acts of government mishandling of funds. Do we go for the jugular. Do we behave like Sila did, destroying everything in our path, a sort of purgatory.
I don't believe this is what Puerto Ricans want. They want government to be fixed, the economy fixed. They do not want endless hearings of corruption, Blue ribbon committees. Nonetheless, to do nothing is just as bad. For the impression will be the PPD was blameless, they just had bad luck. And we know that was not the case. We were stolen blind.
Last week we received the news Dept of Hacienda would be closed for 2 days. Yeah something to do with the A/C system. Guess what "Baby its a shredding party and guess what you are not invited".
The transition team will have to pick and choose their fights and battles, but they must fight and clean house.
Pandora's Box and the Shredders is not a rock band. It's the PPD's debauchery of the last eitgh years. Fortuno "Caveat Emptor".
